Kato Valsamonero, also known as Valsamonero, is a picturesque village and the seat of its own community in the Municipality of Rethymno, Crete. Located 14 kilometers from Rethymno and set at an elevation of 250 meters, the village is surrounded by lush landscapes. The name “Valsamonero” is derived from the aromatic plant “balsamo” or “varsamo” in Crete, giving the village its distinctive name and further enhancing its connection to the island’s natural beauty.
